Preparing For UGC NET Exam?

Earlier, candidates were required to apply for the UGC NET only in the subject of their postgraduate specialization.

Now, UGC has allowed candidates to choose any subject of interest and appear for the exam.

• If you clear NET in a subject different from your post-graduation, you must pursue a Ph.D. in that subject stream to become eligible for the Assistant Professor role.
• Simply clearing NET in an unrelated subject will not qualify you directly for an Assistant Professor position.
• The eligibility comes only after completing a Ph.D. in the same subject where you cleared NET.

• Citizens of India Applicants to be eligible for the UGC NET exam.
• Also NRIs and other foreign nationals are allowed to apply for the UGC NET exam, but their eligibility is usually limited to the Assistant Professor post — they are not considered for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).

• Years 3–5: After demonstrating successful progress, they are promoted to Senior Research Fellowship (SRF), reflecting their advanced research capabilities.

Total Fellowship Duration: 5 years (2 years as JRF + 3 years as SRF). After 5 years, the stipend concludes, and candidates are expected to complete their research independently.

UGC NET JRF Qualified candidates receive a monthly stipend for the first 2 years (Total 5 years ) , supporting them throughout their doctoral research and helping them focus on innovation and academic growth without financial constraints.

What Is The UGC NET SRF Stipend For A Candidate?

UGC NET SRF-qualified candidates are awarded a monthly stipend for the next three years, enabling them to dedicate themselves fully to their doctoral research and fostering innovation and academic growth without financial concerns.
